I saw some book tags whilst scrolling through the WordPress feed and I thought it would be fun to do some. So, today, I will be doing the Twenty Questions Tag. I wasn’t tagged, but I did see it done over at Golden Books Girl if you would like to check her blog out.
Now without further ado, Lets get started!
1) How many books are too many in a series?
Honestly, I think 7-8ish would be a good number. I just feel that if it is anything more than that, it can get quite overwhelming. Especially, if I’m starting the series from the beginning. *Cough* The Percy Jackson Series.
2) How do you feel about cliff-hangers?
I don’t mind cliff-hangers so much if they are done in a way that it leaves the reader satisfied but also thinking about the book. However, If the story hasn’t been well rounded and then a cliff hanger is put at the end then no. It would just cheapen the experience.
3) Hardback or Paperback?
Both! I love paperbacks for the comfort and I love hardbacks because I’m vain and I love it for the aesthetics which I can use to post on Instagram. 😋
4) Favourite Book?
Urgh. That’s like asking a mother what her favourite child is. I can’t just simply choose one! *Sigh* Alright, if I was forced to choose, it would have to be Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. I just loved how Steinbeck was able to write a compelling story with complex characters and he did it all in under 100 pages!
5) Least Favourite Book?
Dorothy Must Die, the first book of the Dorothy Must Die Series by Danielle Paige. Urgh. That book was so bad that it made me scream into my pillow out of pure frustration
6) Love Triangles, Yes or No?
No. Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of Love Triangles. I know. It makes me sound cynical doesn’t it? But I just feel that it’s so unrealistic. I just don’t understand how two people would want to fight over one person who doesn’t know what they want and decides to leave them hanging.
7) The Most Recent Book You Couldn’t Finish
I’ve already stated this but it’s Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige. I had to DNF it at 50% to save my sanity. You can probably tell I’m still very salty about it. 😔 It was such a shame though, because the concept of the book was really interesting. It was just done so badly!
8) A Book You Are Currently Reading?
The Last Empire by Brandon Sanderson. I am loving this book so far! From the world building, to the characters themselves. It just a very well rounded fantasy novel.
9) Last book you recommended to anyone?
The Humans by Matt Haig. I just love this book and would easily recommend this to anyone!
10) Oldest book you’ve read by Publication Date?
Northern Lights by Philip Pullman with the Publication date of 1995.
11) Newest book you’ve read by Publication Date?
The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton with the Publication date of 2018.
12) Favourite Author?
Well, I can’t really say which author is my favourite. Reason being is because I haven’t read enough of one person’s work. I’ve only read one or some of their work which wouldn’t be fair to judge whether that author is my favourite or not.
13) Buying books or Borrowing Books?
Well you see, as much as I’d like to own my own mini library at home, the minimalist side of me prefer to own only a small amount to minimise the clusters of books pilled everywhere in my room. So I would have to say borrowing books.
14) A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love?
The Wicked Prince by Holly Black. A LOT of people were raving about this book. Which was why I bought the series (big mistake). The whole story was so bland and boring. I didn’t care about the plot, character OR the romance. It was just “meh”.
15) bookmarks or dog-ears?
BOOKMARKS! I’m sorry, I don’t care what anyone says about it being “ok to dog-ear your books”. NOPE! I am not ok with it. You can do what you will with your books but I just can’t do that to mine. It physically hurts my soul when books are being dog-earred.
16) A book you can always re-read?
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K Rowling. Well, all of the Harry Potter books really. But especially this one.
17) Can you read whilst Listening to music?
No. I have a memory like a sieve so when I read, I like to focus on the book or else I won’t remember all the nitty gritty details.
18) One POV or Multiple POVs
Multiple POVs. Only If it’s done well. I find that it can get quite boring and sometimes frustrating if I’m stuck in one person’s head (mainly the main protagonist). I like to look at how other perspectives can contribute to the story. It makes things more interesting.
19) Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?
It depends. If it’s a really engrossing book then I definitely will be reading that in one sitting. However, If the pacing is quite slow then I would probably be reading it over multiple days or else I’ll get into a reading slump.
20) Who do you tag?
I’m not tagging anyone specifically for this post. But If you want to do it then you’re more than welcome to!
