It’s time for another Tag Thursday! Since I’ve recently posted the review for Circe by Madeline Miller, I though I’d carry on the theme of Greek Myths by doing the Greek Myth Tag. I saw this tag being done over at Fantastic Book Dragon.
Once again I wasn’t tagged, I just thought it would be fun. If you would like to do this tag with me, you are more than welcome too!
Now without further ado, let’s get started!
ZEUS: KING OF THE GODS – MY FAVOURITE BOOK
Well… this is going to be awkward, considering Zeus is one of my most hated Olympian and I hate picking just ONE favourite book. But for the sake of this tag, I would have to pick The Humans by Matt Haig. It’s just that kind of book that you can read over and over again and when you finish it, it will change you.
HERA: QUEEN OF THE GODS – A BADASS FEMALE CHARACTER
Hmm… my chosen badass female character would have to be Hermione Granger, in the Harry Potter Series. I just think she is amazing! Both bookish and fighter. I mean, without her, Ron and Harry were pretty much helpless.
JANUS: GOD OF BEGINNINGS – MY FAVOURITE DEBUT(S)
I haven’t read a lot of debut authors so my choice for this is going to be limited. However, my chosen favourite debut is The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. I just love fell in love with this book the moment I read the first line. I could not put it down.
ATHENA: GODDESS OF WISDOM – MY FAVOURITE NONFICTION BOOK
Funnily enough, my favourite non-fiction book is Mythos: The Greek Myths Retold by Stephen Fry. I just love anything to do with Greek mythology or even just mythology in general. I’ve always find legends and myths so captivating.
APHRODITE: GODDESS OF LOVE – A BOOK I ADORE AND RECOMMEND EVERYONE READ
It would have to be The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson. This book is everything! From the amazing world building to the complexity of the characters. It was just a perfect, well-rounded fantasy book. I hope that I will be as good as him when it comes to writing fantasy books.
HADES: GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD – AN EVIL BOOK I WISH DIDN’T EXIST
Hmmm… you see…out of all the Olympian gods, Hades is actually my favourite. And no, its not because I have a thing for “bad boys”, I don’t. I just find Hades the most decent out of all of them, he doesn’t strike unless provoked and he is faithful to his wife (I’m looking at you Zeus). But since this is just a tag, I won’t take it too seriously. 😜
My chosen “evil” book would have to be Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige. I think I’ve already expressed how much I hated this book. It was just terrible.
POSEIDON: GOD OF THE SEA & EARTHQUAKES – A BEAUTIFUL & GROUND-BREAKING BOOK
My chosen ground breaking book would have to be The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I don’t usually read Historical Fiction but this was such an amazing read.
The character herself just felt real and genuine to the reader. There was so much depth and development in her characterisation. Ms Taylor Jenkins Reid is a Queen!
APOLLO: GOD OF THE ARTS – A BEAUTIFUL BOOK COVER
It would have to be Immortal Fire by Annette Marie. I mean just look at this book. It so beautiful! well, all the books in this series is beautiful to look at. Not only is it a beautiful book, it has an amazing premise and needs to be more hyped than it is.
HYPNOS: GOD OF SLEEP – A BOOK SO BORING I ALMOST FELL ASLEEP
My chosen boring book is Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. 🙈🙊
I know, I know. A lot of people are probably going to hate me for this well-loved book. But unfortunately, I just couldn’t get into it. I might pick this book back up later in the year but for now I had to shelve it for a later date.
HERMES: MESSENGER OF THE GODS – A BOOK I SPED THROUGH
The book I sped through was the A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas. I finished this book in less that a day. I mean, it wasn’t a particularly difficult book to read but I’m not sure how I feel about it when I finished it though. I didn’t particularly have high expectations going into it.
