What are you currently reading?

The Ultimate Guide to Tarot: A Beginner’s Guide to the Cards, Spreads, and Revealing the Mystery of the Tarot by Liz Dean

Recently, I’ve decided to practice tarot a lot more so I’ve been purchasing books that might help me expand my knowledge on these cards. So far, The Ultimate Guide to Tarot has given me a really good foundation on where to start such as: how to shuffle and cut the decks, how to store and care for them and most importantly how to bond with your own personal deck.

I’m actually really loving this book so far as it is easy to read and understand. I’m really loving the learning process that it has given me when it comes to learning my tarot cards in depth.

Tarot Elements: Five Readings to Reset Your Life by Melissa Cynova

Although this book isn’t as straight-forward and easy to follow as Liz Dean‘s book, it does go into depth on how elements are used in tarot. For those who don’t know, tarot cards have 4 suits, kind of like normal playing cards, each suite has an element associated with it (e.g. wands=fire, cups=water etc.)

So far, I really like the way Melissa has explained it in this book about how the elements work together and clash with each other. It has really helped with furthering my understanding with tarot. Also she is very funny and engaging, which makes the book more fun to read!

What did you recently finish reading?

Legendary by Stephanie Garber – DNF

Although I wasn’t 100% impressed with the first book, I really wanted to give this series a chance. Especially when the Deck of Destiny was introduced and how the deck could tell a person’s fate. Since it reminded me of tarot cards (although tarot decks don’t really tell you an precise future) I found it interesting how Ms Garber was going to portray this in this book.

However, it was such a let-down! It was pretty much the copy of the first book but in a different format. I was waiting for how the cards were going to be used and what happens if the figures on the cards were going to escape! But nope! Just got bored reading about the same thing.

The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon

I don’t really know how I feel about this book. I mean I really liked the fact that the two main characters were have different ethnic backgrounds. However, I just found some part of it quite cheesy. I don’t know if it’s just me but I sometimes get second-hand embarrassment when a book gets too cheesy to handle. I mean It wasn’t as bad in this book but it did have its moments.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Descendant Of The Crane by Joan He

I have been dying to read this book since its release in 2019 and I’ve finally got my tiny, pale-ass hands on it! I suuper can’t wait to read this book. Plus it’s going to be my first book that I’m going to read for the Asian Readathon Challenge! Whoop!

How has your reading week been? What books are you loving? What books have you DNFed?
